SGPG

The problem

The department managed thesis projects with scattered files. SGPG centralizes documents, versions and reviews, and uses AI to summarize and tag each project. It is already used by the head of the program and is being evaluated for integration into the university platform.

Highlights

1. 01Automatic summary and tag extraction from PDFs using AI (Groq).
2. 02Custom PDF viewer with bounded memory (fixed a runaway RAM issue).
3. 03PDF versioning, audit trail, bulk upload and admin management.
4. 04Continuous deployment on Vercel.

What I learned

• → 01An AI-generated prototype is a starting point, not a product: the hard part came afterwards (performance, permissions, versioning).
• → 02Large PDFs punish memory: I learned to render only what’s visible and release resources on time.
• → 03Building for a real user (the head of the program) forces you to prioritize what actually gets used.
